I received a free gift set from Harry’s in exchange for sharing a post for Father’s Day.

Good morning! TGIF! This week has been a long one with me getting sick and all but I’ve had so much catching up to do! I’m ready for a little relaxation this weekend.  Today on the blog I will be sharing a little bit about my dad. Father’s Day is right around the corner and of course I had a give my dad his own shout out. 🙂 I’m collaborating with Harry’s, a shaving company, who is paying homage to all the dad’s out there.  They are sharing stories of dad’s all over and why not give dad something a little extra!

We all remember growing up and having our parents there.  What I remember most about my dad is him loving breakfast.  No joke this still hasn’t changed to this day! You know when you start high school and you think you’re too cool for school aka too cool for your parents.  Well like most parents, my dad didn’t care and was there to remind me no matter what he will always be my dad.

Weekends as a teenager are the same as most.  Wake up late because, um HELLO! IT’S THE WEEKEND!! This was not the same for “adults.”  Saturday mornings I remember wanting to sleep in until 11, heck even 12 because I would stay up on the phone with friends or laughing all night with my sister.  Yes, my mom and dad heard us if we were up and would threaten to take our phones away (to be young).  Of course, we couldn’t have that happen so we would pretend to go straight to sleep.

Well the next morning they wouldn’t let me forget that I kept them up so, at 7:00 AM they were knocking on my door, blasting music in the living room, and of course my dad being a breakfast man would come in yelling, “come on get up! We are going to Denny’s!”  OH THE TORTURE! (HAHAHA!) No matter how much I pretended to not hear him, or how angry I would get and he would just keep coming back.

“Come on get up! Let’s get Pancakes! “We are leaving in 5.” “Get dressed or you’re going just like that!” I mean anything you can think of he said it.  The Denny’s we would go to was right across from my high school so being the “cool” teen I was I couldn’t go dressed any kinds of way because HELLO that cute guy from school might be there! My friends could be there! REPUTATION RUINED.

Very sluggishly I would get out of bed to get dressed and wash my face.  My dad of course, grinning from ear to ear because eggs and bacon were coming soon and me mad because I got a total of 3 hours of sleep.  The funny thing about this was I loved breakfast.  Eventually as we kept growing older, my parents would leave us behind because who wants to wait forever to get breakfast!?  When they did this, I didn’t realize how much more upset I was staying behind than getting up.

As I grew I realized it wasn’t about being tired, it was about spending time with my parents and having a meal as a family.  I wish someone would wake me up nowadays and say hey let’s go to Denny’s my treat! (Dad if you are reading this PLEASE CALL ME AND WAKE UP! I WANT DENNY’S!)  I’ve learned to appreciate the little and big things my parents did for me because no one else will do that.  It might’ve been annoying at the time but all my dad wanted was me to be there.  Just as I wanted him to be there for me then and now.

So, dad thanks for waking me up and making me a part of the start of your day.  Thank you for not letting me rest because I would choose you over sleep any day. 🙂 Also, thanks for teaching me how I can later torture my children because that’s what parenting is all about right!? (HAHAHAHAHA!) No but really love you dad!

I hope you guys enjoyed this story and don’t forget Father’s Day is a week away! Have you gotten your dad something for his special day? If you haven’t make sure to check out Harry’s Father’s Day Gift Set.  It’s a great set that comes with a razor, foaming gel or shaving cream, a stand and cap for the razor so they can leave it up by the sink, and razor blade refills! Also if you really want to personalize it you can get it engraved! I’ll leave it linked here if it’s something that you would like to purchase.

Have a wonderful weekend!

XOXO,
