Traveling To: New Orleans

Good Morning!

It’s been such a fun and crazy couple of days!  I had an amazing Halloween and Halloween weekend.  Yesterday we dressed up and went to Chiptole ($3 if you dress up STEAL!), got some candy and snacks, and of course had to spoil my baby Bubbles! It was our first Halloween with her and she dressed up as a super cute monarch butterfly and had a big Frankenstein treat 🙂 Check my SnapChat to watch all the fun from Halloween!

As many of you know I went to New Orleans to celebrate Halloween.  I mean what better city to celebrate with all its history! Don’t get me wrong I know a lot of people say to do the ghost tours but that so isn’t my cup of tea.  In other words, I’m a big scaredy cat.  Oh well! But I did have a lot other fun memories with friends.  I sadly wasn’t able to check everything off my list but I will be going back again to check all those things off. 🙂

We got into New Orleans on Saturday morning.  Of course we were starving so food was an absolute must when we got there.  We went to place called Café Conti in the French Quarter for some delicious breakfast.  I got some banana French toast and it was very delicious.  Right down the street from that was Sucre, which is a dessert boutique.  They have some amazing desserts as well as macaroons and gelato.  Definitely a must try if you go to New Orleans.  I got a S’mores cake and Ryan got a Salted Caramel Banana Éclair.  So good!

Then we went to check into the hotel.  We stayed at the Hilton Riverside and it was such a nice hotel.  It had everything and more!  We parked there and just walked to everything else in the area.  Once we checked in we took a nap because we were all running on 4-5 hours of sleep.  When we woke up we decided to check out the nearby shopping.  We were close the Shops at Canal Street and did a little shopping.  After that we knew it was time for dinner.  We stopped at place called Willie’s Chicken Shack.  It wasn’t a terrible place and we were hungry so it did the job.  I got the chicken tenders and fries and it came with a biscuit.  They also have lots of drink options to choose from if you are walking around in the area and want something to sip on.

Of course after dinner it was time for us to get ready for the night festivities.  My costume this year was Lola Bunny and Ryan was Bugs Bunny. Our friends, Jhoan and Loren, dressed as a Storm Trooper and Padme.  We went out to Bourbon Street and drank hurricanes in New Orleans fashion.  The energy was amazing!  Everyone was dressed up and throwing beads.  Definitely a must experience for everyone!

The next morning was really hard, check out was at 11, and we got back to the hotel at 4.  We were extremely tired and not feeling so great.  We started our drive back to Houston.  We got hungry around 2 and stopped in Baton Rouge.  We ate at TJ’s Ribs.  I know the name sounds like it would be one type of food but they had a great choice of items.  If you are in the Baton Rouge area I would suggest stopping by.

After we ate we were on our way back to Houston.  I was so tired when I got home but the memories that I made with my friends was well worth the trip.  As I said before I didn’t get to do as much as I had anticipated (like get beignets) but there is always next time.

I hope everyone had a fun Halloween with their friends & family!  I know I had a great time with mine 🙂

XOXO,

Silvia M.

I have no doubt for me it would be all about the food and drink. I would locate a few of the locals favorite dives and enjoy a fun trip. I love the vibe down there!

I was in New Orleans last December for the Sugar Bowl. The weather wasn’t the best, but we had such a fabulous time! You must do Cafe du Monde next time for beignets. Can be a long wait, but worth it. The charbroiled oysters at Felix’s will change your life…I’ve never thought of Halloween down there, but it looks like you guys had a great time!

Halloween in New Orleans! Sounds awesome! I haven’t been there in years, but your post makes me want to go back. It sounds like the next morning was a bit rough. Mornings tend to be that way in New Orleans!
