So if you read my about me you know that I live in the city of Houston with my boyfriend. I moved out towards the city after graduation and it’s been so fun living close to so many different things that aren’t in the surrounding suburbs! One thing I’ve noticed though is that some spaces aren’t quite as big as I was accustomed to living closer to the suburbs. The current space I knew needed some work was my patio. I figured I would get this post out before the summer season officially came to an end because as you can see we incorporated lots of color outside!
We love spending time out on the patio! We do everything from having breakfast outside, hang out with our dog Bubbles, take a glass of wine outside after a long day, and we smoke hookah! This size of the chairs down to the table were perfect for what we were trying to achieve! The mat was a bit large but we decided to take it anyways because we found it on sale for $9.99! (oh and it had a flamingo on it so..)
I will link what I can find below but if not most things came from World Market so check out your local store! Can you guess which chair is mine!?
1. Candle Lantern
2. Blue Bug Throw Pillow
3. Pineapple Throw Pillow
4. Flamingo Windchime
5. Alternative to Pink Table
6. Alternative Rug
So I’m sure by now everyone has heard about the Kayla Itsines BBG program. If you haven’t, let me tell you a little bit about it. It’s a workout program designed to lose weight/tone your body to have your own perfect bikini body. Now if you’ve tried weight loss programs or toning programs before you have an idea of how this is going to work.
This was my first time trying a fitness program and I can say that I was a little frightened at how I was going to feel but, at the same time very excited and pumped to get started. I currently have a gym membership but lets be honest I probably go here and there (even more honest maybe 5 times a month) and it just isn’t working for me anymore. I feel bored with my workouts and I hate (with a passion) treadmills.
So here I was on my first day ready to start. It was leg day! (totally got this) There are a total of 8 different workouts that are broken up into 2 circuits. You do each circuit for a total of 7 minutes, rest for a minute, and move on to the next. You do this twice for a total of 30 minutes.
Bear with me as some of you are probably like this girl is nuts! (I might be) I started with the first circuit thinking wow this actually isn’t that bad, took my minute break and went on to the next. As I started the third workout of the second circuit I felt like I was going to pass out! I drank some water and took a small break (probably like 3 minutes oops..) and pushed forward. By the time I was on repeat of the second circuit I was ready to lay out flat on the floor. I kept telling myself you’re almost finished but, also if you continue going you might die (literally).
After I finished, I took a look at the stopwatch to see how long the entire workout took. I was surprisingly shocked to see that each circuit took me about 7 minutes! (One was like 9 lol) I was very proud of myself for finishing the first day and for not giving up! I will continue to post on the BBG program as I continue because I know whenever I was researching the program I wanted to know EVERY DETAIL.
Let me know if you are doing or have tried this program? What did you feel like after day one?
So my first current faves! I’m very excited to tell you what are my current staples and what I haven’t been able to put down! I’m at the point where I’m excited thinking about fall (because it’s my favorite season) but, very sad that summer is coming to an end. I have had such an amazing summer and I couldn’t have imagined it without some of my summer favorites!
Swimsuits: My first summer favorite is of course a swimsuit. One pieces have made such an amazing comeback this year and I have bought so many cute ones to add to my collection. My favorite one is a palm tree printed one piece. (Nothing says summer like palm trees) The moment I saw it I knew it was going to be a summer staple! If you have any last minute summer vacations I would highly suggest a printed one piece!
Floats: Okay so when I think of floats I think of children. This year that has all come to an end because they came out with some of the cutest adult floats! Of course I had to buy one and it’s a donut (or is it
doughnut) float! Floats have been completely re done this year and don’t worry they are totally acceptable to own, even if you are an “adult.” Choosing one was definitely a tough one because they have come out with so many cute ones! I really want to buy the pizza and the popsicle one next!
Sunglasses: Okay so confession time. I am so ADDICTED to buying sunglasses! I have so many pairs and I don’t think I can call one my favorite. The one brand that I’ve been buying all summer long is Quay Australia. They have some of the coolest sunglasses and they are always at a decent price! Any sort of style you are looking for you are guaranteed to find them with Quay. I have about five different pairs and all of them have different frames, lenses, and colors! You are sure to find one that you love!
Adidas: Okay so this may seem strange or it might seem like I’ve lost my mind (I promise I haven’t) but I purchased the Adidas Superstar shoes before the start of summer (throwback to 6th grade) and omg I am beyond in love! They are super comfortable and you can wear them with ripped jeans and a cute top or with dresses! I originally purchased them because I knew I was going to be traveling a lot this summer (btw best shoes to wear to the airport) and I wanted to have these for the comfort and versatility!
Bubble tea: Okay so not a fashion favorite but if you have never heard of bubble tea (or boba/pearl tea) you must google it and see if it’s near you NOW! It is so good and I can without a doubt in my mind say that I have definitely been drinking this more than Starbucks (I know WHAT!?!). There are so many different flavors and add ins that you can truly make the drink your own. One of my favorites this summer hands down had to be the Honey Green Apple Tea with boba.
What were your must haves for the summer!?
