Hi friends! It’s Monday and I’m ready to get back to business. The weekend gave me a chance to recover from this cold and I’m feeling so much better! Thank you to everyone who sent me well wishes. Today’s post is going to be a Bloggers Guide to NYFW. I got so many questions on NYFW and am hoping this will help those looking to go in February or even next September! Let’s get started.
The number one question I received was how do you get invited to the shows? I know it might seem kind of daunting but it’s fairly simple. There are two different ways that I did it. One was check the NYFW website for the schedule and write down the names of shows you would want to attend. Now I’m just going to throw this out there, a lot of the big shows already have set VIP people so you may not get in but that’s not saying that you can’t. Anyways check Modem Online and most of the PR emails are listed there.
The second thing I did was register and download GPS Radar. There are a ton of shows that put up their information there and all you do is send them an email and request to go to the show! It’s seriously the best and everything on the app is SO easy! I highly highly recommend it! Most of my invites came from using this app.
PARTIES & EVENTS
Another huge question was parties and events. How do I find them? How do I get invited? etc. So, most of the party’s and events are invite-only. If you work with a brand, affiliate program, or PR group that you know hosts events or party’s you can try to reach out. Some parties & events will allow a plus one so if you have buddy or a roommate that is going to an event you may get invited!
SHOWROOMS & MEETINGS
Showrooms are so fun because you get to see the new collections coming out! If you followed me on Instagram Stories then you know I was able to see some of the great new pieces at Baublebar. It was so fun and just nice to see while hanging out with girlfriends! This was the only showroom I got to see while in New York but next time I would love to see more!
I also got asked about meetings and what I did during meetings and why are meetings important. So, to answer those questions. 1. Meetings are important because you get to meet the people behind the emails and. 2. during meetings, you can really show who you are and your personality so that they can match you with more campaigns and work in the future!
Showrooms & meetings are definitely invite-only but if you have worked with a brand or PR firm in New York I definitely recommend reaching out. They may be able to squeeze you in and sometimes they even have certain invites to shows or events that they send you!
New York City is one of the best places in the world (I’m biased because it’s my favorite 🙂 ). There is more than plenty of photo ops while you are there so you definitely want to take your camera! As far as scheduling shoots with photographers, check with local bloggers going or ask your photographer if they will be attending. Book your time slots with your photographer before you go and my recommendation is to give yourself plenty of time before or after instead of rushing to a show or meeting. You will thank me later!
I hope this guide helps many of you! This wraps up NYFW for this year and I can’t wait to go back!
