Good Morning and Happy Friday! We finally made it to the end of the week! (*throws hands up) I have a busy day ahead of me but before that we are closing on Beauty Week.  I hope you guys enjoyed this because I know I did.  It was something very different for me but a good different.  I’ll try to have more dedicated weeks like this in the future if this is something you all enjoyed.  For the last day of beauty week, I will be talking about the oh so popular and famous, lashes. I’ll be sharing 5 tips to prepare you and help maintain eyelash extensions!

How many of you have gotten eyelashes extensions or have been thinking of getting them?  Well good news! I have and I’ve definitely formed an opinion over them.  For quite some time, I had been thinking about getting them on because they just looked so fabulous on everyone.  The one thing that stopped was that I know I mess with my eyes WAYY to much.  First off I wear contacts and if I’m not wearing them I wear glasses.  All I could think about is how annoying it must feel to have them on.  Let’s jump into how to prepare and how to maintain and I’ll continue to share my experiences.

Tip #1 Wash your hair before you go for your appointment

So being that this was my first time getting eyelash extensions, I had no idea about any of the rules or how to plan for them.  I mean they are just lashes right? Well I usually wash my hair every other day and this was my “other day.”  Little did I know that you can’t even get your lashes wet until 48 hours have passed.  WHAT!?! I had an event the next day and needed to have my hair washed and ready to go.  Needless to say I had my sweet boyfriend wash my hair for me (thank god).  This was probably not a great way to start my lashes experiences because anything that stops me from living my everyday life is a no in my book.

Tip #2 Don’t wear makeup on the lid for about 3 days

What I’m really saying here is don’t wear any eyeshadow or eyeliner.  If you want to line your waterline I guess that’s okay as long as it’s not an oil based product (or they will fall out quicker.)  I did the horrible mistake of wearing a little bit of shadow to give my eyes some depth on the second day and it was SO hard to get it off just because I was so scared I was going to mess up my lashes (again the no living my everyday life thing).  I can’t get water on them but I don’t want to wear the makeup all night like how am I supposed to wash my face!?

Tip #3 Don’t wear makeup at ALL

Okay some people will argue about this and that’s fine.  But the only reason I say this is because A. it’s so much easier in general and B. you look so great with just lashes on.  If you followed my Instagram stories last weekend you know that I went on a trip to Austin and got some hiking done.  Well I don’t ever wear makeup to the gym unless it’s already on my face and this was no different.  I walked out in my glasses with my lashes and I seriously felt all done up.  The love really started hitting and I couldn’t stop it.  Trust me try it without it and you will love the “I woke up like this” look.

Tip #4 Brush your lashes daily

If you see lashes falling out after the first couple of days don’t worry! Most of the time they do put more or extra lashes in so that when they do fall out you will have the others there and they won’t look bare.  Keep them maintained by brushing them lately and this will also help with getting any stragglers out of there.  The last thing anyone wants is their own eyelash let alone a fake eyelash in their eye.  With brushing them daily (or twice if you are like me) it will keep its shape and help you have them in the right direction.

Tip #5 Clean them daily and buy clear mascara

At first I didn’t think I was going to be buying the clear mascara because I thought I could just deal with them as is.  Well totally wrong because of wind and nature and such the mascara is very much needed.  But with buying the clear mascara you will definitely need to wash them daily.  I use mild soap and warm water while lightly brushing them out with my fingers.  I don’t like to wipe because when I first did that a couple pulled off.  Once I let them dry and then I brush them so that they can keep their shape!
